Natural Impressions Outdoor Play was thrilled to contribute to the Brock Commons project at UBC, a brand-new build where we offered alternative playhut designs using local building styles. Instead of importing from Europe, we utilized Canadian thermally modified ash for the surrounding bench and locally sourced yellow cedar for all play structures, tables, and log edging. Our Coastal Play Hut was specifically designed to match the size of competing European products, providing a West Coast alternative with materials and craftsmanship from BC. By using locally sourced materials, we ensured a shorter turnaround time, bypassing the 4-8 week wait for non-local products. This project highlights the advantages of West Coast materials and design, supported by local maintenance.
